BACHELOR OF ARTS IN PHILOSOPHY

Philosophy is a subject for thinkers. A Bachelor degree in Philosophy introduces a student to the various branches of Indian and Western Philosophy. Philosophy is a branch of study which enquiries in to the fundamental questions about human life.

It is concerned about human knowledge, moral and scientific reasoning, art and society. Philosophy as a branch of study is vital for the development of a society and is considered useful for professions like law, business and public administration.

B.A. Philosophy or Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy is an undergraduate Philosophy course. Philosophy is the study of general and fundamental problems, such as those connected with existence, knowledge, values, reason, mind, and language. The Bachelor of Philosophy program helps students develop critical thinking skills, linguistic ability and the ability to defend a reasoned point of view. Students also learn to critique worldviews and come to their own ideas on what is true and how to live. B.A. is generally three academic year degree course and it may be provided on part time basis by certain institutes. The B.A. (Philosophy) program is offered online via distance learning as well.

B.A. (PHILOSOPHY) ELIGIBILITY AND PROCEDURE FOR ADMISSION

The selection for admission to the program is merit based. For direct admission, student must have scored the percentage declared in the cut off list. In case of entrance test, the shortlist of candidates is prepared on the basis of performance in entrance test and some weightage is also given to the marks scored in 10+2 examination.
